pb v mb?

My girlfriend wants a 1.5 powerbook 12" that she's seen for £799 at PC world! she likes the silver ones, but can't afford a macbook pro! I keep saying its not worth it, its slower then the new macbooks!?

Am I right in saying that a macbook is faster then a 1.5 powerbook!!!?

Yes, you are correct. The new Macbooks are faster with the Intel chips. But if she can't afford a MacBook pro, PowerBooks are the next best thing. Plus, there are still some non-universal apps that would work on PowerBooks faster. Speed isn't everything you know.

I would recommend the MacBook because it should be faster and snappier (and includes Photo Booth which is a killer for most newcomers), however, if she's a light user and likes the way it looks there's nothing wrong with a PowerBook. If you get it you should try to negotiate and get that price down to about £750.
