ok i have searched the forums and read most itunes migrations but they seem to cater for mac to mac using different HDD's.
My problem is I want to migrate my pc itunes over on to my mac.
I am comfortable at file copies and that but wondered if i was going to lose things like play count, favourites etc which are stored in the library file itself? Also my purchased tunes.

I would hate to have to copy all my tunes across and start the library naming/play count etc from scratch :(
Surely someone must have done this already?

Is this any help? :)
One important note: This method successfully transfers all your song ratings and playlists, smart or otherwise. However, it does NOT transfer other metadata, like Last Played and Play Count. This, quite frankly, sucks sideways. (However, using iTunes' built-in backup and restore to 60 gazillion discs, Play Count IS transferred.)

Is this any help? :)

wow thanks, at least its a start I guess :) i have a fair few gig of music, in fact thinking about it now, I must have a FAIR FEW GIG as when I was halfway through my CD collection, I thought i would re do it all again, using the APPLE Lossless compression as I have a good car audio setup.

mmm tempted at the full backup/restore now, shame you cant do it to HDD and only dvd's? might be an idea to use 2 or 3 dvdrw's and then cycle them, restoring to the MAC as you do it? (and hope you dont get an error halfway through!?)
