My PC, which I hardly use now that I own a MB, is refusing to copy files to a dvd. When I put in a dvd, it seems to recognize it as a dvd and such, but when I try to move picture files onto it, it says "Windows encountered a problem trying to copy this file." It does it with individual files or groups of them. In addition to this, it makes some loud noises.

Does this mean my harddrives are dying? Should I invest in a new harddrive and install Linux? How can I get the data off of these drives, if it won't put them on dvd's for me?
