PC Type 1 to OS X font conversion

I have a bunch of Type 1 fonts that I am using on my Win98 machine that I would like to migrate over to my Mac. The files are in groups named xxx.afm, xxx.inf, xxx.pfb, xxx.pfm for each font. If I copy a group of fonts to one of the OS X font folders, they don't seem to be recognized as anything but a generic document.

I can use these fonts pretty easily under Linux. How can I get my Mac to recognize these fonts under OS X?
