PC video output to a MBP?

I have an old PC, but no monitor for it, and I need to find out if there's
a way to plug it into my MBP, to kind of use the MBP as a passive display
for the PC? I don't want to go buy a cheap PC monitor.

Another possibility which would work is if there was some kind of a adapter that would let me put the PCs VGA into the MBP (VGA out to DVI in?), and which required me to run a program on my MBP that would emulate a display within OSX?

Sorry, DVI on MBP is only a OUTPUT. If you want video input you'll need some converter and take it through Firewire.

by the time you buy adapters and cables and whatnot you can buy a cheap monitor

Just install a VNC server on the PC and acess it over the network from your MBP..
