Hi,

Im looking on Ebay.co.uk for a PCI ATA or SATA card for my old AGP Powermac.

Can't find a single card which mentions it will work with Mac. I hope someone here can let me know if any of the PC cards listed will work, this is my last resort before having to cough up £60 (cheapest i can find for a sonnet card, cheaper suggestions away from ebay gladly welcome).

If someone has the time and kindness to take a quick look that would be great.

Thanks

James

I recommend the Seritek 1S2

Hi James,

I bought a SATA card in the past that realy works great. I wanted to eliminate the old ATA 100 and to use it as a fast start up drive together with a 10K Raptor SATA drive in my G4 MDD. Just in case you want to use a new SATA drive as a start up drive as I do, look for typ of card that supports a boot up!!
I had to exchange a SATA 4 port card because it was not able to act as a start up card. (non-bootable)
I have now a 2 port that is bootable and its the Seritek / 1S2.
Works great. That's what I recommend. :apple:

some examples of good ata & sata cards for sale

ata card

PC ata & sata cards won't work on macs!

Do remember that your comp PCI slots is going to limit your sata or ata transfers. so putting in a sata card and even a 10K raptor HDD won't give you 100% working performance.

I just updated my G4 800 QS 2002 with an Seagate ata 500GB HDD hooked up on the org ata 100 bus. I was thinking about a sata card and a sata HDD, but decided the price was too high for not that much performance gain.

Thanks ive sourced one now, a Sonnet Tempo with cable pack from Cancom just incase anyone else was looking for them over here.
