PCMag has posted a fairly comprehensive, well balanced, and favorable review of iWork '09 which could be helpful for buyers interested in this software suite.

I use iWork in conjunction with Microsoft Office and find that the two suites complement each other quite well. Office doesn't easily create the displays that I'd like to represent data whereas iWork doesn't have quite all the features that Office does.

Here's the link for those that are interested:

But it's better suited to creating individual pages than long documents. If you really want to, you could use it to write a full-scale senior thesis, or a scientific paper, or a multi-chapter book, but you'll probably grit your teeth much of the time you're doing it.

A good article overall, but this is bull pucky. Writing long papers and even books in Pages is not a problem at all.

Pshhh, I've known people who've written novels in Notepad.

Pages is fine for long documents.

True- Considering you can watch in full ASCII glory in a UNIX or OS X terminal it probably doesn't matter how fancy the program is. Pages is definitely more than sufficient for the majority of users and saves in enough formats that it doesn't really matter.
