[RANT]

Why did MacRumors buy this domain? Macs aren't usually considered PCs (yes silly since they ARE personal computers), however, this could have been done to convert rumor-hungry PC users to type this in and discover Apple (for real), or could have just been bought by Arn to squash competition... ;)

[/RANT]

Anyway, why? (Sorry if this has already been asked, I did a search but nothing came up...)
Oh, and as a sidenote... are there any other super-secret MacRumors domains?

EDIT: You mean there aren't any RANT tags? We could sure use those! ;)

Whoever did do this needs to be given the Medal of Utter Hilarity. Quite funny...:p

This is similar to what apple has done:

**deep breath**

apple.com (the usual)
imac.com (could cause confusion...)
mammals.org (cheeta, puma, jaguar, panther, tiger...)
newton.com (the return of the newton!)
iphone.org (no, it's been there for a while :( )
digitalhub.com
ripmixburn.com (wtf??)
macmate.com (hmm...)
eworld.com (eworld??)
xserve.com (more confusion)
dvdstudiopro.com (and more)

Maybe there are some others, but those all lead to the front page.

And I thought MacRumors was overdoing it with pcrumors.com, applerumors.com and maybe another one...

i though i would comment on the ones you had questions about...

ripmixburn was the first big push for itunes and apple's digital hub marketing.

i have not a clue about macmate, and woud be interested to see what comments someone could make on this.

eworld is pretty old school. it was apple's attempt at an aol-like online service.

I searched on Google for the whole pcrumors=macrumors thing and found this. Kinda interesting that arn discusses this very url...;)

Ah, that clears most of it up, thanks! :)
Now about the mammals...
