As we all know, the iPhone 12 can be charged at 20 watts. What I’m wondering though is can a 30 watt charger for instance charge it at the full 20 watts? I feel like the 30 watt charger will only charge it at 18. Anyone have any clue about this? I have noticed Anker and Ravpower now have specific chargers saying 20 watts. I don’t know if that’s just marketing ploy and any 30 watt charger will charge at the full 20 watts or they did something specific for the iPhone 12 to have it charge at 20 watts

Apple has supported fast charging on iPhone since iPhone 8. The iPhone 11 Pro Max can be charged at up to 23 watts in testing so a 30w PD charger would be more than enough to maximize charging capability.

as you guessed, it's marketing. They're just trying to capture the millions of "20w iPhone 12 charger" searches.
