I am going through my documents folder to make all my files from the past 10 years universally accessible. I don't know if I should convert all my documents and powerpoints into PDFs or MS Office file types.

Tough decisions...

The .doc files will usually compress better than a .pdf, and will allow you to easily edit the file in the future, should you have a need to do so. I'd leave them .doc, rather than .pdf. It's easier to create new .pdfs from a .doc file than it is to go the other way. Besides, storage space is cheap, so, within reason, size shouldn't be an issue.
