Pdfs in safari broken

I installed acrobat recently and it then started opening all my pdfs in safari using the acrobat plugin. For the life of me I could not work out how to get it back to the simplicity of preview. So I uninstalled acrobat (dragged application to trash and emptied). But now pdfs are not opening at all in Safari.
Please help me return safari to how it used to be.
