iPad PDF's

Hi all.

How do you get PDF's over from the Mac to the ipad ?

I have a bunch of magazines/PDF's i've done... (not via Itunes), but my own personal magazines i have scanned, but wish to read this on ipad.

Is their a way to sync these over... without having to rely on services like Dropbox (which probably would actually be the easiest) , file-sharing,email, or third party apps ?

can itunes do this ? as i can't even find where to sync PDF''s.. Am using itunes 11.0.2.

ok... found it ...

However, "Adding to library" reveals the "books" section, however itunes complains this is another iTunes library, and it must "erase and sync"

How can i keep my apps, and just add my pdf's books ?

This is under the same iTunes store account, on the same mac.
