What really grinds my gears if I am working out and let's say my peak load is about 30-45s , the apple watch just can't detect my bpm in time. Most of the time it catches the bpm when I am at rest again. Not very good!

I will look into it, thanks !
I use it all the time, pairs with AW, other smart watches and most gym treadmills(will transmit your HR without any setup). AW has decent heart rate monitor but no optical sensor is a match for the Polar-I have worn it to record 11 hour hikes and it may only hiccup for a few seconds in all that time.

Very expensive... like 80€ hmmmm Maybe I find something cheaper.
