Peculiar screen lighting

I've had my Powerbook G4 for about 3-4 weeks already, and have noticed that whenever I use my PB near a bright light, it will change intermittently change screen brightness for no apparent reason. It goes from bright to low several times in a minute.

Anyone know the reason for this?
