Apps Pedometer++ data inconsistent with the data recorded by Activity?

I just installed Pedometer++. When I open it it says 3,533 steps, 1.7mi and 4 floors. However if I go to the Activity app it says 3,868 steps, 1.97mi and 2 floors.

Why the difference in the data? I thought Pedometer++ pretty much reads the data collected by the Watch and display it differently. Does it record any data of its own?
