Peer Guardian and Google Problem

I just got my first mac a week or so ago. And I have been trying to get a IP blocker and when I downloaded Peer Guardian it installed fine and started working correctly but from that point on I could not open Google or any of its sites in firefox or safari. When I uninstalled Peer Guardian Google worked perfectly again. Has anyone else had this problem and know of any ways to fix it? Also, phoenix labs site does not work so I need another way to download Peer Guardian because the only way I could find version 1.6b2 was from a random YouTube user. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
