Pelican Protector 6+ question

So I bought the Pelican Protector at the local ATT store. Initially I thought it was a new case and the buttons for home and volume will become easier to press. It is relatively hard to press even after a week. My question is will this wear down the buttons overtime because of the extra force required to press it?
