Pen Drive issue... Help?

I have 2 pen drives that are 2 GB each. one is sandisk one is staples. Every time i insert either of these drives into my computer i get the drive icon along with a disk (cd) icon. does anyone know how to get rid of the disk? has anyone successfully done this?

I have tinkered with disk utility with no success.

It is quite a PITA ejecting this disk every time i insert the drives....

Try going into Disk Utility (Apps > Utilities > Disk Utility) and partitioning / formatting the drive as one partition. (This will erase anything on the disk, beware!)

Thanks but no such luck.
The CD still appears with the pendrive.
The CD is read only...

does this happen with anyone else?
