My wife has a pro 9.7 and I have a pro 11, is there a pencil, I’m guessing it will be 3rd party not Apple, that will work with both? What have you used? What would you recommend, or recommend avoiding?

thanks

In my opinion, there isn't a good alternative to the Apple Pencil. (And I used every stylus there was before the Pencil, as I taught a university iPad course.) You can find lots of used (first generation) Apple Pencils, though. Even if you think you are not going to be drawing, you may well change your mind as there are so many great drawing apps and the Pencil is also more pleasant to use for note-taking.

Thank you both. I guess I was hoping to avoid buying both. think I’ll try and track down a second hand 1st gen first of all then and see how my wife gets on with it.

any other thoughts also welcome.

If you just want to do some hand-writing the Logitech Crayon should work for your need. If you plan on drawing, it doesn’t have pressure sensitivity so the Apple Pencil would probably be better.

I haven’t tried it myself so I can’t say if it’s good or not but according to Logitech website you don’t have to pair it with your device each time you move from one iPad to another which is a very good point.

Be wary of this option. I tried buying 2 second hand and they both had dead batteries.

Hmm, from what I can see on the Logitech site, it doesn’t support iPad Pro 9.7 unfortunately.

in a slightly different direction, i just got iPad pro 11 and 12.9, both 2020. I'm not an artist. i just want to use pencil just as a mouse/pointer type thing and for making notes, etc. so any trusty reasonably priced 3rd party stylo will be fine, so any recommendations. i also have a Samsung galaxy tab s4 and the pen that comes with it is great and I mainly use it as a pointer/mouse. but I doubt it'll work with the ipads.
