I tried turning it on this morning as usual, it beeped SOS until I shut it off. I tried turning it on again and I am posting on it right now, it is performing perfectly well.

It's the first time it's done this, but it's been having trouble starting lately. Maybe it has to do with the ram install I made about two weeks ago? Could one of the sticks be not properly seated in the computer?

I'm kind of stumped as to what it could be. I know it means a hardware failure.

Yeah, I think beeps are RAM issues. You might try reseating them. I can't remember if this only refers to RAM or also refers to problems with the POST in general. But reseating the RAM is a quick troubleshooting step so you can see if it happens again after that.

I tried an SMC reset first, see what that does. So far so good.
