Anyone else have this experience in a significant way? I can actually put the "notebook" on my lap without feeling the burn.

My penryn MBP runs at 49C most of the time. Shoots up to 63C when ripping n encoding (Handbrake). I am happy !! :D

what does your Merom machine run at ? I used to have 2.2 merom now I have the 2.4 Penryn.

Old base vs. New base.

yup, my MBP seems to run noticeably cooler than my friends SR MB & MBP.

Yes, I was very surprised how much cooler it was. The previous version on AC on a lap was downright painful. The one is quite tolerable.

I've been sitting at the mall doing a lab report. web surfing, and downloading torrents for the past hour or so, and I'm currently running at 113F/45C.

I rarely get over 130F/55C, but, I also don't have ProTools loaded up yet. But Reason doesn't push it much higher.

Oh yeah, and my battery life is kick-butt. 5-hours of class life, easily.
...
Such a great first Mac. :)
