the past few days, i was observing my spacebar making a squeky noise.
i went to the GB yesterday, to ask for advice. they told me it was a spongy keyboard and they have to replace it. bad news, no replacement keyboard for the penryn as of yet! and they can't guarantee the replacement being available anytime soon. so they said, they'll just replace it.
1. Do i have it replaced and risk having all the other known issues?
2. do i pry the spacebar out on a perfectly good mbp?

cheers!

Im not quite sure about the spongy, but when i first got my macbook pro SR i had a squeeky spacebar as well. It drove me nuts when i was writing my papers and essays, but after about a month of constant use, it just suddenly disappeared. My guess is that it worked itself in, sorta like working in a new car. It has to settle a bit.

the thing is, the noise wasn't there last week when i got it. it started making the sound tuesday. Genius told me that the metal thing that applies the pressure on the key could be broken.

Mine was also like that, it showed up within the first month of my purchase, I think the spacebar is probably fine, but if apple is willing to replace it for free, Id just keep using it until a new keyboard is available. The worst that can happen is going psycho to the melodic sounds of a squeaking keyboard

It could be just the angle that its being hit at , or numerous other things,

Swap, it, have them transfer everything and just get a new one.
