I'm curious if moving to a faster phone with more functions that required data connections has dramatically increased your data usage?

Right now I don't use much data on my 3G, but wanted to try and estimate if my use may increase dramatically if I go to the 4S.

Mine did, but it was my own fault. Didn't realize just how much data speedtest used. And my plan was prorated when I switched from the 3GS to the 4S, so I didn't have a ton of data left for the month anyways. :) Plus I think you always use your phone more when it's brand new, so I'm not surprised. I expect next month it will be back to normal for me.

Yes. I know because of international data roaming charges incurred in the US. I used the same amount of data in 4 days on iOS5 as I did in 18 days in the summer on the previous version, with the same usage more or less. That is a big increase, certainly more than I was expecting. Turning off some of the location services would probably have helped.

For those who noticed an increase of data usage; is this because you have a faster phone that can now do more?

I don't think so because I just did the same kind of things (WhatsApp, email, maps). I did use Siri a lot but only on WiFi. I should have turned off most of the Location Services/System Services I think.
