People can now recognise dogs?

So photos could recognise dogs and dog breeds from photos, but they were never part of the “People” album. Yesterday I cleared out my “People” album and reset suggestions and let it start from scratch. And surprisingly, it created an entry for our dog.

Is this officially supported now or is it just a fluke?
