Still rocking the original Apple Watch. I like it a lot, for notifications, Apple Pay, and face complications, but it’s too slow to really use it for anything else. For those to jumped to the Series 3, just how big of a deal was the overall speed increase? I’m debating getting a Series 3 soonish, bit only if I can really increase my app usage, and get more for my money out of it.

I also went from S0 to S3. Just agreeing with the above. It's radically faster. I use more apps now than I used to as on my first watch they were so slow to load I just quit trying.

S3 is my first AW but watching reviews comparing the speed of the S3 vs S2 was enough to not even consider a S2. It was either a S3 or no AW at all.

It’s crazy fast and I think my battery life has like doubled or tripled

Your battery life hasn't necessarily increased, as it is still rated 18 hours across all Apple Watch models for the last four generation Apple Watches. What you're seeing is, the dual core processor is not having to work as hard being it's not under powered, which is not taxing the battery as much when compared to the first generation Apple Watch which had a slower S1 processor.

I went from S2 to S3 and that was certainly worth it in terms of speed. Apps actually work now. The S3 makes all the others look like prototypes.

Me too. Have a S0 for 2 years and wanting the S3 w/o cellular.. really wish they had the gold with midnight blue band like with the S1/2 though.

Night. And. Day.

I don't use apps on my Watch anyways, because I don't use the Watch for anything other than Runs and Telling Time.
However, it's so fast! I remember when I got mine on Launch Day back in April 2015.
APPS WERE SO SLOW I gave up.

Now, I may go back and add more.
This thing is Zippy. :)

Somewhere between however more importantly (for me) is battery life. I workout about 1.5 hours x 5 or 6 week and my S0 could no longer make it into the evening (battery about cycled out). No doubt 3ed party apps are very slow on the S0 but the OEM's run fairly well still.

Just checked my S0 and even after nearly 2 weeks powered off it is at 100%. May just keep as a backup.

0 vs. 3:

Speed is day and night. Frustration vs. it just works. Makes you want to use apps instead of avoiding them.
Battery has plenty of gas left at the end of the day, might last two if no work outs?
Screen is better, with the image appearing to have less glass over it.
Default screen is less bright, but you can turn it up to match 0 default.
LTE makes it truly independent of phone, an interesting twist.

I did the 0 to 3 upgrade (no-LTE)

still getting used to actually using my watch, after being frustrated by trying to use apps for 2 years. I have to remember they're actually usable now

battery life is crazy improved, easily can put it on one morning, and not take it off till the next night. and have battery to spare

Just received an S3 LTE as gift to replace my S0, it’s a total game changer. I work out for almost 2 hours a day using the workout app and music, my S0 would run out of battery around 3 PM.

Too bad the S0 is so slow, besides that it’s a perfectly good watch for the basics.

I bought my wife the S0 almost two years ago. I just gave her the S3 yesterday for Christmas. She absolutely loves the speed increase and how her workout apps are so much quicker to launch than on the S0.

Definitely a fantastic upgrade to say the least.

I agree! The S3 gps and LTE versions are so much better than the series 2 and of course over the 1. If you need to be without your phone like I do since I’m a mailman then LTE is the best option. Yes. You have to pay a little more but it’s really worth it if you get the watch. You’ll have to try it out yourself to really see for yourself. Buy one and try it for a few days and if you can afford it and like it then keep it but if you don’t like it because you don’t think it’s worth the price tag than return it. It won’t hurt to try it out.

Or, you can keep the watch and turn off LTE if you have need of its other features.

Game changer. It’s significantly faster, better battery life, brighter, waterproof, etc. I am still getting over my hesitancy to use apps (they would barely work and kill my S0’s battery in the process) but so far I actually enjoy doing so!

Is there a big difference in battery life?

I mentioned in the thread you started, there is a difference in battery life, but its not drastic. The Series 3 Apple Watch has a faster processor, which helps alleviate from taxing the battery when the processor
Is able to handle more. With the first generation Apple Watch, the processor was much slower, will had to work harder, therefore taxes the battery more.

Recently switched from s0 to s3gps.
That increase in speed and usability is just awesome.
Battery was at 21% at the end of the 2nd day (aprox. 35h off Charger). And dude... I played a lot with this new tech.

For me: Game changer

Your point makes zero sense. Battery life is drastically better, full stop. Your explanation is just a convoluted way of saying that battery life is drastically better on the s3.

If you run a S0 next to a S3 the S3 will last longer... thus the S3 has better battery life.

Are you trying to say the size of the battery is similar?
[doublepost=1515253633][/doublepost]Absolute game changer. I had completely given up on third party apps and honestly apps in general (although I didn’t realize it) on the S0.

Pease reread my post, as you're not understanding.

I have no idea what You're ranting on about. The OP I replied asked is there a difference between Series 2 and Series 3 battery life, which I stated the Series 3 does have better battery life, but it's not drastically better Over the Series 2. And then I used a the first Gen Watch as an example of the Battery life suffered with poor battery life being the processor had to work harder because it was slow to begin with.

If you run a S0 next to a S3 the S3 will last longer... thus the S3 has better battery life.

Again, no idea what you're ranting about here. I already reiterated that in Series 3 has better battery life Over the first Gen Watch. What you're stating is what we already know.

You are correct technically but the statement is misleading.

https://www.apple.com/watch/battery.html

If you read Apple’s own breakdown you will see how they calculated “average” usage over an 18 hour day. It included 4 hours of LTE standby and 14 on WiFi. For those who don’t use LTE the battery will last that much longer. Further those that don’t use the other features will gain even more...

E.G. I typically make it though 24 hours with 70% of my battery remaining if I’m only using my watch as a watch that receives notifications.

You could always use your S0 for sleep tracking or some other passive activity.
