This may help some of you...

I however am not that skilled to do all that stuff, too afraid ill mess something up. I've got an external HD, and when i start up the initial set up for Time Machine it won't recognize my HD, but it does connect fine to the computer I can access all the files on it. Any help with this one?

As I understand it, Time machine requires that the target disk be formatted as HFS Extended (Journaled); is it possible that your disk is formatted differently?

I would suggest using Disk Utilities to erase and reformat the disk anyway before you start TM (assuming you have no other data on the disk you need to keep!)
