During the Keynote yesterday, I know that I heard Craig mention per-app passcode locks during the Enterprise segment. Does anybody know if this is available to all apps on an iOS 8 device that is not managed by someone else?

Gosh I forgot about that. I'd LOVE to be able to individually pass code any app. That would be so useful.

Anyone hear anything more about this? I'm hoping to pass code the settings app or a whole folder of apps.

He said TouchID can be used by the apps. Just like apps can currently setup a PIN lock, or password lock. They allow devs to trigger TouchID for access to the app in lieu of PIN.

e.g. your bank, 1Password, etc.

That's nothing new, just that now TouchID can be used. Craig said Per-App Passcode Lock which the OP is referring to.

OP is referring to this.

I haven't heard any of it, perhaps it's not available on this beta?

My question is whether or not Average Joe, who doesn't have a managed device, can passcode protect individual apps ON HIS OWN.

No.

Apple is giving developers access to use TouchID INSIDE their apps.

There's no system-wide option to password protect an app.
