I have a white MacBook. Currently running 10.5.5, with the Airport 1.4.8.0 software. AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x87).
There are two situations in which I have encountered a odd airport phenomina, which does not make sense to me and my little knowledge of wireless networking.
First situation: School Wi-Fi
School wifi is a WPA enterprise I beleive.... at any rate, that is what works for other MacBooks in the school (same as mine). You enter hte name of the network, Your password and user name, and it works. IT says its connecting via PEAP or somthing...
However for me, when I connect to the network, no browsers will work. Pages spend about 30 seconds trying to load and then finnaly say "could not load". The odd part is, Skype and Adium, work. I have talked to people on Skype via this wireless connection many times, but cannot get my browser (Firefox, or Safari) to load anything.
This exact same thing has started happening at my home wireless network too. I recently set up a small network via my ActionTec DSL modem, and it worked great. 2 days later, I connect and suddenly, browsers wont load anymore, and only skype and Adium seem to be able to acess the internet.
In the school wi fi situation, a friends identical white Macbook was able to connect to the internet easily via the same network. The only noticable difference, was that the Airport software was set to 1.4.4 where as mine is newer. Could this effect anything?
