OK - I'm game!
What is the purpose for a light shining full-time on the back of the iMac? I don't look around behind the computer often enough to need something special for that.
You could likely find something that would work in a dollar store, or the like.
I had some holiday lights hanging around the screen last winter, but that's likely not what you want, either.

Most importantly - It reduces eye strain by a huge margin.

Secondly - It looks super cool :p. And the light would be facing the wall, not the screen. Something like this -

Also have a look at Philips Ambilight TV.
 
Backlighting only really comes into it's own when you're watching something in the dark. If you want to prevent eye strain don't use your iMac in the dark, it's difficult to see the keyboard anyway.
