since no one answered my last post here's a shorter one.

Is there any real difference in performance between an 2.2ghz macbook and 2.2ghz macbook Pro?
 
depends what you mean by performance:

as far as processor intensive apps, they are pretty much the same (look at GeekBench results)

but where graphics come into play, the MacBook Pro RULES.

e.g. Video encoding, they will be very similar. Playing Doom 3, Macbook will probably not work at all, or you will get about 3FPS... MacBook Pro will play it smoothly!!
 
Both are Santa Rosa, so I don't see why one would be faster than the other at this point. You may see a performance difference when it comes to graphics though. The dedicated video card in the MacBook Pro is much better than the integrated video in the MacBook.

Short answer: In pure processing terms no, if the App uses the graphics card to any extent then the Macbook Pro will cane it.
