I had some issues for a while with general performance issues with my MBP. Then it triggered in my head. Every time I put a new mouse I had purchased which just happened to use wine to use the mouse driver to use the mouse, steam would crash. I had gotten used to it, I thought it was steam being glitchy. Everytime I plugged the mouse in there was a brief pause then it would work. Today I tried a normal, logitech mouse and it was usable INSTANTLY and steam didn't crash. Maybe it's luck but it definitely feels like wine had to boot up whenever I plugged my old mouse in.

My dad said that would explain alot because then it's basically like everytime I clicked it had to transfer through a virtualization. Crazy but I can even run Guild Wars 2 in "best appearance" without any FPS drops at all now, well there are small FPS drops but when I used my old mouse the game would die. Not literally but it was unplayable in best appearance. It's a very strange circumstance but for now it's totally amazing.
