i currently have a entry level 2016 13in TB and was trying to use my elgato with it, mainly just to play console games on my Mac. It seems to struggle staying at 1080p 60fps for the preview, and I was wondering if anyone with a new model or higher end model has the same performance issues or if a newer integrated graphics card or higher end processor would fix it?

Quoting Elgato's FAQ page here:

Currently, a quad core Intel i5 or better is needed to reliably achieve 1080p60 capturing. By quad core we mean a real quad core i5, not the dual-core-with-hyperthreading i5. This also holds true for i7's. MacBook Airs can have i7's in them, but they're ultra low power dual core i7's. The only recent computers that fall into the real-quad-core range are the 15' MacBook Pros, iMacs and Mac Pros.

Simply put, your CPU is limiting you here.
