Performances: MacPro 2013 Xeon E5 vs MBP Pro or MBP Max?

I have an aging Mac Pro, with 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5, 32GB Ram, 1TB SSD and AMD FirePro D500 3GB.

I'm wondering how much improvement I would get with the new MBP with M1 Pro or M1 Max and 32 or 64GB Ram?

It's primarily used for photo editing under PS/LR and video editing (4K) with Final Cut Pro.

Interesting question. I have a Dell T3600 with 6-core Xeon E5-1650 v1 and 6GB GTX1060, and would expect that the M1 Pro would easily outpace it. Apart from the GPU, my MBP16 (with AMD 5500M) and M1 Mini easily outpace it in most tasks. I originally got the Dell for video editing, but it's somewhat redundant now, and if I bought an M1 Pro/Max, I can't really see much point in keeping it, except as a spare desktop, or to heat my home office in winter

I have a M1 Max and a 2013 Mac Pro with 12-core cpu. The M1 Max is faster in every way, ranging from slightly faster to significantly faster, depending on the use case.

For photo editing, i'd imagine you would find the M1 Max to be slightly faster, and for 4k editing, the M1 Max is clearly very significantly faster.

I compared yesterday side by side my brand new Macbook Pro 16” M1 Max 64gb Ram + 4tb SSD with my iMac Pro 18-core 128gb Ram… and for 1/3 of the iMac Pro price, the new Macbook Pro is in another league… both the Blackmagic Speed test and the Benchmarks are better/faster on the MBP, except for the MultiCore test, but not by far…
Disc Speed Write/Read on iMac Pro 2.200/2.900 Mb/s.
