Hey guys, just got the new Perian 1.1.4 so that it's compatible with my new snow leopard quicktime 10. However, it doesn't seem to be able to play the same file formats as my older quicktime version. I used to be able to play mkv files with Quicktime 7 using perisan but with the new Quicktime it doesnt seem to be able to play it even though the new Perian release should play the same formats with the new QT.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

When you installed SL did you choose to install the optional Quicktime 7? Quicktime X cannot use any plugin right now so has to use a hidden Quicktime 7 when it needs to.

oh I see. I'm not sure, I got my computer geek friend to do the installation for me. anyways I still have QT 7 to play my mkv files. when can I expect to use QT 10 with perian do u know?

If you install QT7 from the SL disk right now (via a QT7 proxy: it uses the QTX GUI). If you don't probably OSX 10.7 at the earliest.
