I have just done a clean install with ML and have not installed Perian. Along with it no longer being maintained, a few months ago Comex retweeted somebody who was slating it. He said something along the lines of it slowed his mac right down and there was alot of memory leaks in it.

Does anybody know if this is true? I kind of miss it.

Re: Perian

I haven't really given much thought as to whether it slows Macs down. But out of my two machines, iMac & Macbook Pro, the iMac has the tech specs that should make it a lot faster, yet the Macbook Pro seems to handle itself better..

It's a shame as I liked the software. But if they're not providing support for ML then I'm not gonna install it on any new machines.

I would of thought this would of made some news on the mac log here on MR.... a sad goodbye for such great software but welcome to hello of new media players of sorts!
