Periodic double photos downloading into iPhoto from iPhone 6 plus

Anyone else have this issue?

I backup old school to a Mac laptop and I don't tend to keep photos on the phone. So I connect the two together and iPhoto pops up in which to transfer photos from the iPhone. Problem periodically pops up where the phone transfers double photos to iPhoto. If I shot 6 pics, then I see that 12 pics get transferred, 2 duplicates of each photo.
