Permanent marker on Blu-ray Discs

I've been marking blu-rays that I've backed up to with a permanent marker - as I have for years with CDs and DVDs. I was unaware that permanent markers could damage a disc by seeping through the label. Is this still an issue? Do modern discs have labels that prevent the ink from bleeding through?
