Hello,

I've been having so many problems with my snow leopard installation that I am going to reinstall everything from scratch. Nothing transfered except for my working files.

My question is... the persmissions on those files have gotten tweaked a bit. They are not the default...

Some of them change in a way i don't want them to be. So how do i fix this completely, consistently, and surely?

If i copy my working files from my old user account to an external, reinstall osx sl from scratch, completely fresh, create a new user, and then copy my working files back... will that reset the permissions on those files?

thanks,

r.

If i copy files to an external harddrive, switch to a new mac, and copy them to the new mac... will the permissions change to the default for the new mac? or will they somehow retain the permissions that they had on the old mac?

thanks,
r.
