I'm trying to get persistent hotspot to work well between 2 iPhones. I have a Verizon iPhone for work and a T-Mobile iPhone for personal use.

I'd like to share my hotspot on the verizon phone to the t-mobile phone during the work day. Verizon is the only provider that works in my office building because they've installed repeaters in the building for Verizon only.

I think the persistent hotspot is working on my work phone. The SSID is available and showing on my personal phone at all times. The problem I'm experiencing is that my personal phone will disconnect from the persistent hotspot after a few minutes of going to sleep.

If I leave cellular data off, the tmobile phone will reconnect to the hotspot after a few seconds of trying to use the internet in mail or safari for example.

If I keep cellular data on, the tmobile phone will not reconnect to the hotspot unless I go into wifi settings and select the hotspot again.

Is anyone able to successfully keep their iphone from dropping connection to a persistent hotspot? Is this how it is supposed to work? Or is the feature just meant to work with devices that don't have an LTE signal?
