I installed Lion on my MacPro and MacBook Pro when it was first introduced. Certain response times on both machines were immediately slowed. The best example is probably inserting a USB flash drive: it takes an average of 25 seconds for the drive to mount on the Pro, slightly less on the MacBook. Getting the drive to eject takes about half as long, which is still way too long.

In addition, I notice slower response times for mouse clicks in certain programs, and windows seem to pop up more slowly for open programs.

I'm wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and, if so, they've found a particular solution. At first I assumed it was due to Spotlight reindexing, but that was completed within the first 24 hours. Ironically, my Windows 7 install using 1 processor core and 2gb of memory runs faster than the Lion install on the same machine (the MacPro) with 3 cores and 8gb of memory.

I'm thinking of doing a clean install on both machines, pain that it is, so I'm wondering if anyone else did so, and if so, whether you saw increased speed?
