OK - So I moved from NJ to Maine and I am in a rural area without ay cable providers... for the time being I have to use AT&T Data plan for all of my internet needs...

I have been using an old D-Link router to steam movies from my iMac to my apple tv - that works well for the most part except when I want to watch a movie that was purchased from the iTunes store...even if it has been downloaded to my iMac it still verifies that the apple tv has permission to play the movie....So basically this limits me to movies I haven't purchased from Apple when using the D-Link router.

The second option is to use my iPad Pro as a personal hotspot and network the iMac and apple tv while gaining the ability to watch my iTunes store purchases...

MY QUESTION IS... When using the iPad pro personal hotspot, is cellular data being used to stream movies on my HD on the iMac to the apple tv...there is no need to use cellular data as far as I know...data is simply going from my iMac to my iPad to the apple tv... Right.???

When initially using the iPad in this way, I notice that cellular data is still being used when I check the usage tab under settings. I figure it could be background updates etc. not related to streaming movies but I want to make sure because data plans are expensive (even thought AT&T just did away with overage charges) and I am currently using a 50GB per month plan...it may sound like alot but we watch alot of netflix and HULU now that we have no cable tv (actually a good thing).

Any input or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I hope I painted a clear picture of my dilemma..
