Had to wipe and restore my phone yesterday due to some issues. I was not home or at work so anytime I need to do something like this, I just turn on the personal hotspot of my iPad and do what I need to do when cellular data is blocked for that function.

Turned on my hotspot on my verizon iPad, full service, speed test indicated 40+ down and 30 up, and the iCloud backup failed. Kept trying, rebooting, etc, still no luck. Used my friend's T-Mobile iPhone as a hotspot, thinking that verizon blocked something, and still the same thing. No luck. Even rebooted my iPhone, assuming my phone was the issue.

Finally, I go to a CableWiFi hotspot and try it that way, and it worked. I was thinking, ok great, now I should be able to get back on my iPad hotspot and do the restore. I was wrong! Both iPad and iPhone hotspot rejected the restore of my phone! I've never had this issue before, but at the same time this isn't something I do by habit.

Last time I actually did this was when my iPad was on iOS 8.0 and I got the iPhone 6 and wanted to get it set up. My iPad is now on 8.1.2 (jailbroken) and the T-Mobile iPhone was on 8.3. Would love to know if others have experienced this odd and ridiculous issue. I'd be really upset if this were the case. I didn't think it would be such a struggle to get this done.
