Hi.

As i'll buy the iPad 2 wifi later this month, i would like to use my iPhone internet on it. I've read that Personal Hotspot only will be available on the iPhone 4. But since it has been seen on in earlier versions of 4.3 on the 3Gs, there must be some way of making in work. Can i somehow use one of these beta(?) versions of the OS on my phone or maybe trick it to think that it's an iPhone 4? I know it's possible to share it's internet connection with some of the JB apps, but it would be great if it can be done in a free way.

I'm sorry is this has been posted in a wrong place. I'm new to this place and this is my first post. :)

I believe the 3GS can bluetooth tether to your iPad in 4.3 Basically it won't share your 3G via WiFi, but will via Bluetooth.

I hate to burst your bubble, but a stock iPad will connect via bluetooth in 4.3. I've done it myself. WiFi was turned OFF to confirm I was using BT. (This was done to an iPhone 4, I have yet to try on a 3GS but I know there is a post somewhere where someone said it was possible)

So if i jailbreak it, what app should i get?

MyWi and PdaNet will do the job providing wifi tethering from your 3GS to the ipad.
But wait till the 4.3 JB is out for the iphone to see if there's better and cheaper options.

A stock ipad on 4.3 connects and pairs to an iphone internet tethering using Bluetooth you're claiming?
Try it again, what you're posting is false.

I don't have another camera to film what I'm doing but I'll give you a step by step

iPhone 4:

Settings-Personal hotspot on

iPad

Settings- Wifi- Off (to prove use of BT)
Settings-General-Bluetooth
Tap on my iPhone from the list of BT devices and confirm passcode on each device (only 1st time you pair do you have to confirm)

There is now a "link" icon where the wifi icon usually is. WiFi is still OFF.

iPhone 4 shows 1 connection.

Internet works flawlessly on iPad

Neither device is currently, or has ever been Jail-broken.

Did you install the 4.3GM on your ipad?
Before the iPad would not connect to internet tethering using Bluetooth cause it didint have the correct profiles installed, it would just handle regural Wifi connections.
I have to wait till the official 4.3 is out to test it out with my i4.
Anyone else try that to their stock 4.3 iPad?
You obviously have to install the 4.3GM on both i4 and iPad.
