Phantom missed call notification?

I have an iPhone 6S Plus and for the past couple of weeks every time I receive a call and answer it, about a 1/2 an hour to an hour later I get a missed call notification for that call and shows up in the call log as a missed call. This has happens for every call I answer. I asked a few of the callers and they said they only called the one time.

Anyone ever experience this? The phone doesn't ring twice, just the once but it still says missed call later on. I don't get it.

Do by some chance have call forwarding set up? Or perhaps it might be related to continuity/handoff if you might have other devices?

I had this happen to me about three months ago. Apparently something was wrong with my AT&T account and they had to reset it. I was getting missed calls for another number on my family Plan.

I do have call forwarding set up (to my iPad and iMac), but I've have it set up since the feature was made available and this had never happened before. I would see actual missed call notifications on each of those devices, but with this now, I'm only seeing it on my phone.

I do have AT&T & on a family plan, but the calls aren't from the other members. It's only for calls that I answer that later on I get a missed call notification. I'm not actually missing a call.

I just stopped happening. Unless I did something that I'm unaware of, the issue seems to have corrected itself.

I've run into this issue every time I have set "Calls on Other Devices" (aka AT&T NumberSync) to "On". I called AT&T and the first tech said it was a known issue right after NumberSync launched and that they were working on it.

I waited about a month, called again, and the tech turned off NumberSync on my account and then I enabled it again from my iPhone 6. The problem seemed resolved for about 6 hours but then it started happening again.

As best I can tell, when my Mac rings and then is not answered (because I answered the call on my iPhone) anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes later, a second entry shows up for that call on my iPhone 6 call history but it shows as a missed call.

I finally gave up and just changed the setting on my iPhone 6 to only allow calls on other devices "When Nearby" and the problem has not happened again.
