greetings.
i just got done installing windows7 64 on its own hhd (bay 1). osx in lower optical bay on ssd.
after install windows7 booted up fine and worked great. no sound though. special apple keys dont work etc, i do use a logitech 5 button gaming mouse and it worked great.
So then I install Bootcamp from the install disk to get the drivers for sound and keyboard, wireless, etc. Now when Windows7 boots up it crash dumps to bsod within minutes.
So i reinstall windows7. find the driver for sound (realtek) in the bootcamp directory on the install disk, and install only the sound driver. now i have sound. and a VERY stable window7 environment.
do i need bootcamp installed? i dont need the keyboard shortcuts or wireless. no need for apple mouse. everything works great at the moment. i dont mind booting using the option key. gaming in CoDWaW i am getting 90fps with the 5870 video card at max settings and 1920x1200. I did uninstall the stock video drivers and download Catalyst for 5800 series from ATI.
the only reason i installed windows is to play Cod. 90% of my time i am in osx using final cut/lightroom...
so thats it. to install or not to install bootcamp. i am inclined to leave things be right now. unless someone tells me i have to for good reason.
