I've just opened a new bank account - one of the trendy ones which does everything online. Part of the process is to take photos of my face to match them with some official ID.
It shows an oval on the screen, asks me to move the camera closer/further until my handsome face fits the oval, then takes the photo. At which point it shows the resulting photo - which now contains loads of background - and tells me it's no good. The humiliation!
I tried to "trick" the system by holding the phone really close, but then the oval only showed a small part of my face and wouldn't proceed.
Solution? Use my iPhone 11, which had no issues at all.
(I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the iOS 26 thread. It could be fixed by software, but it's an issue with the 17's camera, as both my iPhone 17 and 11 are running the latest iOS 26.1 beta. I logged a Feedback under the iOS beta anyway.)
