For the past few months, I've been having issues with my iPhone 4. Whenever mobile data is enabled, the phone heats up and stays extremely hot. It'll stay hot until it runs out of battery (which is usually in under an hour, if I'm actively using data).

I haven't updated any software or changed anything recently.

At the moment, I'm turning off mobile data whenever I'm not using it, which is pretty annoying.

Anyone have any ideas what I should do?

Yes, software update is always a good recommendation.

Do you have good reception? I experienced, that when I am in areas with very bad reception, that the iPhone gets hot and drains the battery.

Updated to iOS 5.0.1 Nov 11, problem started after I got back from holiday in January. There's nowhere to update to xD

I do not, but it happens in areas with good reception to, and it also happened on my old network.

Just curious...Ever get this warning?

My brother's black iPhone 4 got this once when we were driving cross country. Then again, it was in direct sunlight for an extended period of time and the cab of the truck was ninety-something degrees. We heard his music shut off and both looked at the screen. I held it up to the AC vent for about five minutes and the message went away.
