Phone call hangs up every time I plug in the ear piece

I find it very annoying whenever I'm on the call with someone and want to use the earpiece. However, whenever I plug it in, it drops the call on them and I'd have to call back. What gives? I don't remember my old iPhone doing this. Is there a setting where I change this?

I had this happen today for the first time also. I couldn't hear the caller because I had been listening to music earlier and the jack was stuck thinking the plug was still plugged in. I plugged in the headset and the call got dumped.

That's curious, because I've used the ear phones a few days ago and haven't experienced that problem. The only thing I can figure is that you may be accidentally hitting the end call button on the screen or on the headphones.
