Phone dropping wifi constantly

I have my iPhone 6+ connected to my home network (apple router) and I am constantly noticing my wifi is dropping. This is happing several times a day where I need to manually go back in and select my wifi network to get it to reconnect. Has others seen this and any suggestions for a fix?

this was all fixed on 8.1

I did upgrade to 8.1 and it seems even worse now.
