iPhone 12 Pro Phone got hot after used LiDAR

I tried the LiDAR feature tonight and used it for couple measurements, but then I felt the phone was getting warm. Is it because LiDAR drains battery quite a bit?
 
Noticed the same thing mapping my basement. I don’t think it’s the LiDAR itself, but the cpu doing a lot of processing with all that data.
